Shawn De Lierre Announces Retirement From the PSA Tour

Former World No. 35 and two-time Canadian National Champion Shawn De Lierre has announced his retirement from the PSA Tour, closing the chapter on an extraordinary 25-year squash career—one of the longest in the sport's history.

At 42, De Lierre maintained a top 100 ranking for an impressive 18 years, briefly dropping out for just four months due to injury. He competed in 8 World Championships, 3 Commonwealth and 8 Pan-Am Games with his best showing in the 2012 World Championship, where he reached the second round, losing to former World No. 1 James Willstrop in Qatar.

De Lierre made his PSA Tour debut in 2000 at the Dartmouth Snowflake Challenger and went on to participate in 265 tournaments, accumulating 551 career matches, placing him 10th on the all-time PSA men’s appearance list. Over his career, he claimed 17 titles, 8 medals and was part of 3 of the top 4 longest matches ever played; including one that lasted 170 minutes. While the COVID-19 pandemic influenced his decision to retire, De Lierre looks forward to the exciting opportunities ahead.

We are so proud Black Knight had the privilege of being a part of his whole 25-year journey and cannot wait to support him in his new endeavour as he transitions to coaching as the Head Professional at Vancouver Racquet Club.
